Hatching Sequence of an Eyas Peregrine
Photos by Bill Murphy

Chick uses a special "tooth" on the beak to chip away at the egg in a full circle then starts pushing>>

The specialized "Tooth" on the upper mandable gradually smooths out into a normal looking beak.

The chick needs to make the effort to hatch on its own to be healthy.  Sometimes a breeder needs to assist and is successful but it can be risky business.

By the time it's all over, the chick is tuckered out but soon will be eating well prepaired food.
